TOP MAVERICK (7) is a son of Merchant Navy who ran well on debut at Mornington over 1200m, working home nicely to grab second, beaten a long neck. Better for that and looks the pick of the raced horses. DASHER (3) wasn't beaten far first up at Seymour, finishing fourth, beaten 2.5 lengths. Damian Lane takes the ride here and he can take catching. QUICK SPELL (5) was in the market in a strong maiden on debut at Moonee Valley but struggled, improving next time out at Seymour. Can take that next step. LEAVING LAS VEGAS (4) has placed in all three runs to date, only finding one better at his past couple in South Australia. Can measure up well. SOUTHERN SLAMMER (6) is a gelding by Alabama Express on debut who should be ready to run a good race.
